I have heard that the yellow labs shed more, as Emily said, their hair shows up on your work clothes, though mine are usually covered in dog and cat hair anyway...
Does anyone know if Guide Dogs will push back a recall date if you are willing to bring them in? I just don't know if he will be good to go (though he is doing better with his vest), in 2 months. Emily mentioned that some people have been able to fly in with their dogs, anyone else have any experience with that?
Thanks again for helping me navigate the sad, but wonderful, thought of recall.

I don't have any idea about whether or not they'll push back recall, but I would say maybe! He's only going back at that time now because that's convenient for when the puppy truck comes. I think that if you said you were able to bring him in say...four months, they might consider that option. Especially if you remind them that you have issues that you are working on with Sterling, and you think it would benefit him to stay with you longer. Good luck!
Maybe you should put in an app for a LGX and see if you can get one for your third puppy! You also never know, they could have one available that no one else could take or something crazy....Haha.
They probably would push his recall back if you requested. GDB is very good about getting us raisers what our puppies need.
As for black vs. yellow and male vs. female...maybe just say that you will take whatever puppy needs a home. That makes it easier for GDB instead of accomodating picky raisers. ;) My CFR likes me to raise girls because she thinks I am good with them. I'd love to raise another boy, despite the fact that my first boy was a pain in the butt. As for the color difference, I don't care at all. I raised two yellows in a row, and I don't think it was any easier or harder. I LOVE both blacks and yellows. Before I got Alana, a friend in my puppy club was telling me that black Labs shed less. I kind of rolled my eyes and said "yeah right". After all, they have the same coat, right? Wrong! Blacks shed soooooo much less. I don't mind, though. a little black hair never killed anyone. ;)
Especially if you are willing to take him yourself, I definitely would ask Barb! They are really fussy about taking dogs when there isn't already a recall scheduled, but I think there is generally one every month so you would just need to find out the dates. But with that said, there isn't a recall this weekend in SR, yet my leader is flying with 2 dogs to turn them in when she attends her new breeder's graduation.
