The last 14 months and 25 days comes to an end....

It is official, Sterling has been career changed.  This little guy just did not want to be a guide dog.  While he loves being at home, going on walks, and visiting with people, he just did not like outings and wearing his vest.

He was in consideration for a Canine Buddy, but it was decided that the change would be too stressful on him.  Since he is still with me, I have decided to place him myself.  I have a friend who currently has no dogs who has fallen in love with him.  He will be going on a trial run with her in the next couple of weeks.  Since she lives here locally, I would still be able to see him, and watch him if she goes out of town.

I have been asked to take a transfer pup, and I will get her on Monday, when I get back from my ski hut trip this weekend.

She is a 5 month old black lab, a M puppy.  More details on Monday for this little (and she is tiny!) girl.

I think Sterling is going to love his new life as a companion, house dog, hiking buddy, skiing companion, and best friend.

Aww! I'm sad in once sense, but not much, he chose what he wanted to do and will be happy! So congrats on a job well done, and I hope things work out with his new family!

Sorry about Sterling being career changed. Even if you see it coming it is still so hard. Sounds like he will be in a very good home and I am sure he will love it. Can't wait to meet Miss M.

Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry about Sterling's career change. But I have to commend you for all the hard work you put in with him. It was definitely worth it, at least you know now that it truly wasn't meant to be, and that you did everything that you could. Amazing job with him, he's an awesome boy. I know exactly where you're at with him now...it's rather exciting to know that these guys will be so loved in their new homes, even though they aren't guides.

I can't wait to hear about your new little girl.

O no, Sarah! I am so sorry to hear about Sterling's Career Change. CC's are never easy, no matter what the circumstances. It sounds like this really was the right choice with him though, and that is great you get to place him close by. It's always fun to be able to visit your CC's :) Congrats to both of you!!

I'm so sorry! Some dogs are just not cut out to be guides, and that's okay. You did a great job with him and I can't wait to hear about Ms. M!!

Oh no! I'm really sorry to hear this, but it sounds like it is what he wants, so it is what we should want and be happy with too. I'm glad that you may have an adoptive home for him... it sounds perfect! From my brief meeting with him he seemed like a VERY nice dog!

Looking forward to the little "M" news though! I am thinking she might be a littermate to a pup in our club, so we'll have to see!

Sorry to hear that guidework just wasn't in the cards for Mr. Handsome. But I'll bet he'll be one happy dude now, life sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun for him.

Congratulations on persevering through these past 14 months and 25 days. Even though he won't be a guide, you've worked so hard with him and in the process molded him into a wonderful dog that will bless someone's life :)

Can't wait to meet miss "M"!
